The blank cards will be sent to American soldiers around the world, who can then send them back to their family and friends. The cards are being sent in celebration of World Card Making Day on October 4.

The Letters from Home program started in 2003, when a mother’s son joined the National Guard and expressed his feelings about the importance of mail to soldiers. His mother gathered up friends and family, got some names of soldiers from the area, and started sending letters. Since then, Letters from Home has collected over 296,945 letters, cards and packages and sent them to over 46,200 soldiers. Letters from Home is a non-profit organization that is nationally recognized by the Pentagon and the America Supports You network, and is run by non-paid volunteers.
