Helpful Hints
To re-create the project shown here, follow the helpful hints below and the patterns Main Frame—Four Square™ (page 52) and Sampler—Calendar™ (page 127) as outlined in our how-to book Reflections®. - Create pieces A as follows:
- Using Pansy Purple ink, the second generation stamping technique, and the random stamping technique, stamp a small snowflake.
- Using Pansy Purple ink and the Sponge Daubers, apply ink to the edges.
- Using Pansy Purple ink and the Sponge Daubers, lightly apply ink around the stamped images, creating a subtle smokiness.
- Create pieces B as follows:
- Using the dry embossing stylus and the paper trimmer, create a bead board effect by scoring approximately every ½” across the paper.
- Using the stipple brush, or another brush of your choice, dry brush paint over the entire surface.
- Set aside to dry.
- Create the stamped accent pieces as follows:
- Using the stipple brush, dry brush paint over the entire surface of a 6" x 6" piece of White Daisy cardstock.
- Set aside to dry.
- Once dry, stamp the largest snowflake and two medium snowflakes using a combination of Pansy Purple and Outdoor Denim inks onto the painted White Daisy cardstock.
- Allow the stamped images to dry completely before trimming, keeping in mind that drying times are slightly longer when stamping on painted cardstock.
- Apply pearl paint to the Dimensional Elements, as desired.
- Using the sandpaper distressing technique, rough the surface of the back side of piece C. (Note: The back sides of textured cardstock are lighter than the front sides, so they offer even more creative versatility.)
- Using the Sponge Daubers, apply Pansy Purple ink to the Color-Ready Alphabets.
- Embellish with clear Sparkles and Dimensional Elements as desired.
- To help the interactive journaling piece stay in place, follow these helpful hints:
- Attach piece C using 3-D foam squares.
- Place a long foam strip horizontally about 3" from the top of piece C. This strip will act as the "stopper" for the journaling piece.
